Myspace Magazine - Tips For Keeping Your Home Based Business On Track

Tags:
@ 12:57 AM (17 months, 3 days ago)

While running your own home based business might seem like a dream come true, it's also a lot of work and takes constant monitoring and good business skill to keep your business on track and increasing earnings.

It might be great to be free from the time clock and the boss that watches over you and barks order, but the truth is that you are now that boss and if you want to succeed in your own home based business, you have to make it your job to succeed. You must treat it as your job, not as your hobby.

Without planning and consistent effort you're just setting yourself up for failure. Luckily a little bit of discipline and some organizational skills can help you succeed. Here's some tips on keeping your home based business on track.

YOUR ATTITUDE

The key to your business success is your attitude. You must treat your business like a business. This is critical whether you are working part-time or full-time. Put another way, "If you have a hobby attitude you will have a hobby income, if you have a business attitude you will have a business income." You can be successful working part-time and you can be successful working full-time but it is highly unlikely that you will be successful working in your "spare time".

YOUR OFFICE

Whether you are working in a luxurious spare master suite or the corner of your basement, it is important that you set up your office properly so that you can work efficiently.

Make sure that your office is free from distractions when you are working. It's a good idea to let family members know that when you are in the "office" you are not to be disturbed.

You also need to make sure you have everything you need to work comfortably. This includes A comfortable chair and organized desk and supplies such as pens, highlighters, paper, notebooks, stapler, binders, filing cabinets, tape and whatever else your particular business may need.

Another part of your office is your electronic data and computer. Make sure you have a decent computer that can handle your online workload. Consider the value of a broadband connection. Your time is valuable and a broadband connection can allow you to get more done in a given time frame. Organize the data you keep online in folders. If your business requires lots of email contact make sure you organize that properly. You should set up a folder for each contact and keep important correspondence while deleting what you don't need. If you belong to membership sites that require passwords, keep the "welcome" letters where you can find them.

Also, you need a virus scanner, personal firewall, anti-spyware and anti-adware and preferably an email scanner with the ability to delete suspect of spam email from the server before it is downloaded to your computer.

YOUR SCHEDULE

Develop a schedule that works for you, your family (or "significant others") and your business. When you allot a block of time for work then use that time for work. Equally important is to schedule time for your other commitments - family time, self education ( reading, listening and viewing), "health time" (exercise, cooking and eating), and leisure time. During these other times don't work. After all if one of the reasons to work from home is to spend more time with your family then you don't want your working at home time to consume your family time.

You are working for yourself and your schedule (by your choice) is your "boss". When you have people calling you or dropping around unexpectedly or maybe out-of-town visitors may want to catch up with you then you need to make a choice. Are you committed to your own business success? What will be your choice in these situations? Only you can decide what is important to you.

In a family environment you may need to negotiate with your partner and children to have your business time agreed upon, during which you will not be interrupted. Put this schedule prominently somewhere so all family members are aware of your work schedule.

KEEP GOOD RECORDS

One thing that many home based businesses forget to do is to keep proper records. These are very important especially if you are ever audited by the IRS! This may involve a consultation with a tax advisor who can let you know about the optimal way to set up your financial records and what records need to be kept. Your advisor will also recommend record keeping systems and you can find out what software may simplify this aspect of your business. Additionally your obtain advice on the best arrangement for your bank accounts. You will most likely be advised to have a separate bank account.

Myspace Magazine - Social Marketing, The New Wave Of Advertising Your Business

Tags:
@ 06:56 AM (17 months, 15 days ago)

Advertising your business does not have to be a chore anymore, a new wave of advertising opportunities has come upon us.
In the past, advertising your product/service/affiliate program was a hard, costly thing to do. First you would have to search the internet to find competing products to see if you had something unique, then you would have to find linking partners to get some targeted traffic to your site, then you would have to find affiliate/jv partners to send out broadcasts to there lists just so you could get noticed by a few people, people that may not even be your target market.
That seems a lot of work to go through just to get some traffic to your site and maybe get noticed to sell a few units of what you are selling.
So what if there was a new way of advertising?
What if there was a new way of advertising to a targeted audience that is actually interested in what you have to offer?

Well that is where Social Marketing comes in to play.

Social marketing has been creeping up on the few that are "in the know" and that "few in the know" have been marketing there products to thousands of people that are:
1. Targeted
2. In there thousands
3. Actualy interested
4. Looking for a solution to there problem
and
5. Ready to buy the solution to there problem

Take a look at just some of the social networking sites around the internet at the moment, look at myspace.com or youtube.com and you wil realise that these sites have millions of people looking for friends to network with.
There are sections for business, mothers, fathers, pets, money problems and the list goes on and on. Do you see the point im making here?

Social Marketing is the new wave of business advertising and your gonna see a lot more about it in the coming weeks as more and more people jump on it.

The best part about social marketing though is not that you can advertise your business to thousands of people that are looking for your solution but the best part is, its free to do it.
All you need to do is, sign up for a free account, fill out your profile with a few cool free layouts, put some links to your products, banners to your affiliate links and you have started social marketing.
Then you can start adding friends to your network that are looking for your solutions by targeting friend searches, then you can start sending out bulletins to your friends to get some interest in your solutions.

Now, this is only scratching the surface of what can be achieved with social marketing and there is a lot to go through but i think you maybe getting the point that im trying to get accross to you.
There are many social networking websites out there, that have from say, a few thousand members, right upto millions of members and you can advertise to most of them if you just take the time and learn how to do it right.

Myspace Magazine -Myspace Marketing - How To Market Your Business For Free On Myspace

Tags:
@ 04:40 AM (17 months, 17 days ago)
Myspace.com is the world's largest social networking website. It is the cool place to be if you are in your teens, 20s and 30s. I have also found that it can be an outstanding free marketing tool for social business and websites.

So what is Myspace.com? Myspace is a website where anybody in the world can create a free "personal" web page (i.e., my space). Once you have created your personal web page on myspace, then you can connect your page to other people's myspace pages by clicking on a link to request to be a person's friend. Once that person agrees to be your friend, then you and that person can email each other, chat with each other, leave comments on each other's myspace pages, and read each other's blogs. There is no limit to the number of friends you can have and some of the more popular people on myspace have millions of myspace friends and have actually become Internet celebrities and have been featured on talk shows.

Over the past year I have been conducting test marketing on myspace for a couple of my clients and I have discovered that myspace can be a very good free marketing tool for businesses. However, myspace is not for all businesses. The types of business that will do well having a myspace page are the "cool" types of businesses that want to market to people in their 20s and 30s. Businesses that will have luck marketing on myspace include bars, clubs, "hip" clothing stores, and cool Internet websites.

Here is how to market your business on myspace.com:

1. Go to myspace.com and create a free profile. Make sure to talk first about yourself and then about your business. However, you must consider your myspace page a personal page where you talk mostly about you and a little about your business. Do not just talk about your business because if you do, people will not want to be your friend. You need to focus on the personal aspect such as, "hey this is me and my life. And by the way I run this Internet website that sells cool t-shirts." If you think of myspace as a place to network and meet friends FIRST and market your business SECOND, then you will do well on myspace.

2. Once you have created your myspace page, click the browse link to find the type of people you want to market to. You can search by gender, age, location, ethnicity, etc.

3. Go to each person's page and click their "Add to friends" link. The person will either approve you or deny you. If they approve you, your myspace page and their myspace page will be connected as being friends.

4. To market your business, post friendly personalized bulletins. When you post a bulletin, a link to your bulletin will be posted on each of your friend's myspace pages. If you have 5,000 myspace friends, than you can literally have a message sent to all 5,000 of these people for free. However, remember that you must be personal with your messages. Talk like you are talking to your best friend. Do NOT talk to people like customers. Myspace is a place for friends and you must respect that.

5. Post friendly comments on your myspace friends' pages and include a link to your website. Then, everybody who goes to your friend's myspace page will see your comment and your link. Some will click on your picture to become your friend and some will click on the link to go to your website.

Myspace Magazine - Myspace Marketing Tips For Your Business

Tags:
@ 03:27 AM (17 months, 18 days ago)
MySpace is well-known for its huge online community and the way to do social networking, but it also can be a way to get your message out about your service or business if done in a non-pushy casual way. Today's generation has seen so many ads and can block it out in a flash. What's important to remember that MySpace and social networking is about making friends and casually mentioning what you do, what you've found helpful etc. It is not about hard selling.

After you set up your profile at MySpace you can explore using the various feature which include adding friends, sending out bulletins, joining a group, blogging, writing comments and sending e-mails to your friends. Also when you set up your profile you are assigned a number but it's nice to change it to a catchy phrase because that will be part of the url or website address people use to find you.

The group tab on MySpace is wonderful to browse because you can find groups that are targetted on your niche and join them. For instance, if you study the pets and animals tab you'll see there are several groups available for dog lovers. The Dogs are the Best group has 31,901 members. There's another group titled My Dog Rocks that has over 54,000 members. There's also specialized niches as well such as a pit bull group that has 9000 members.

After you join a group you need to wait a week to post and then you can either answers people's posts or post your own topic or question. It is best to put your offer in your signature file and to build up relationships with people in the group rather than be an aggressive marketer. Some groups also have a bulletin section which allow ads and you use that section as well in a more direct way. I have found that being anecdotal and talking about my own interest in the topic help builds connections with other group members. Think how long it would take you to grow a newsletter list yourself of 54,000 members and you'll get a glimpse of the potential this has to let others know about your product or service.

Another feature I like is the commenting aspect. You can leave a comment on your friend's profiles that everyone who goes to their page will see. It can be worth it to make or buy a pretty banner so that you can include that within your comment. I always study someone's page before I make a banner so I can customize my remark to their personality. It takes more time but again it helps to build the relationship. If I see that the person likes a certain book I like or hobby I will mention that in my comment and then put a link to my site using a banner or a text link.

Blogging using the MySpace blog system is also a very good way to get traffic to your site. I usually will post something in a diary or casual way and have a link to my site. I then will send out a bulletin to tell people I've updated my blog. Don't neglect MySpace in your marketing campaign as it has wonderful opportunities to help people get to learn about your website, service and business.

Myspace Magazine - The Pitfalls Of Advertising On Myspace

Tags:
@ 06:14 AM (17 months, 19 days ago)
Many users of MySpace tout the potential for advertising to be one of the most useful features of this online community. However, there are quite a few pitfalls to advertising on MySpace. Most importantly those who advertise on MySpace run the risk of finding themselves in violation of MySpace's terms of service and facing the consequences of these infractions. In addition advertising on MySpace can appear very unprofessional to potential customers. Finally, those who advertise on MySpace may become guilty of spamming. This article will take a look at these three advertising pitfalls and provide advice for avoiding these potential problems.

Violating the Terms of Service on MySpace

One of the most serious potential problems with advertising on MySpace is violating the terms of service outlined by the administrators of MySpace. This is significant because members who are found to be in violation of these terms of service can have their websites deleted and may be banned from the community. The terms of service should be reviewed carefully to determine which types of activities, in relation to advertising, are permitted and which activities are prohibited. Special attention should be paid to the section of the terms of services which specifies member websites are not to be commercial in nature. It might be necessary to contact MySpace directly for ask for clarification of this section and additional information on what constitutes a commercial website.

Appearing Unprofessional

Another potential pitfall to advertising on MySpace is appearing unprofessional. MySpace websites can be created very quickly and easily through available templates. This may result in some members becoming overly anxious to start advertising immediately. When this happens the members may be sloppy in their design and may create a website with many errors which does not present a professional appearance.

Additionally, MySpace is a rather relaxed community where members often use slang or abbreviations haphazard. This practice can also create an unprofessional appearance which may alienate some potential clients. Also, MySpace members must consider the comments left for them by other members of the community. The individual who maintains the website should understand the comments left for them are considered by others to be a reflection of them. Therefore those who do not think highly of the comments left on your website are not likely to think highly of you or your business either. For this reason care should be taken to maintain a lee of control over the comments left for you. This can be done either by not allowing comments at all or by only allowing comments that receive your approval to appear on your website.

Engaging in Spamming techniques

One of the most dangerous pitfalls those who advertise on MySpace might encounter is spamming. Before advertising care should be taken to review MySpace's policy on spam to ensure the advertising techniques you are using are not considered to be spam by MySpace. This is important because those who are found guilty of spamming may have their account and website deleted. They may even be banned from creating a new account in the future.

Also, potential customers are not likely to think highly of a business that they view as engaging in spamming techniques. These customers are likely to purchase products and services from other providers who they believe run a more honest marketing campaign. Spamming can therefore be a very costly mistake for business owners.

Myspace Magazine - The Marketing Potential Of Myspace

Tags:
@ 03:49 AM (17 months, 20 days ago)
MySpace.com is home to arguably one of the largest social networks in the world. Thousands of users join for various reasons, whether it's to make friends, share photos and videos or to promote their own music. As the MySpace tend grows in popularity, members of the competitive marketing industry have discovered the gold mine that MySpace really is when it comes to its advertising potential.

There are a number of tools and methods, which allow users to maximize their space's marketing potential and benefit from access to such a large community.

Firstly, the wider your audience, the higher success chances there are of your scheme really working. There are a number of automatic programs which allow users to collect friends and build up a strong contact list. Yet, many users find that the personal approach is better since it allows people to target their audience, even if it does take longer. This means going through a number of profiles, and friend requesting those who deem appropriate recipients to your advertising spear, even though there is a limit to how many people you add in a day. This approach is especially useful for niche businesses that cater to a significant target market.

A faster, and easier way of building up your friends list, is MySpace Train. This is a script that makes users post their profile on a page, and allows other users to add them.

Once full, MySpace Train is reset for more users to add the marketer. Even though it's a very basic method, it is probably the fastest and easiest way of getting friends since there is no limit to how many requests you get. This approach is not useful for those catering to a niche market, as the friends collected in this way, are absolutely random.

Once the marketer has collected and built up a large contact list that is ready to be advertised to, there are a few steps that need to be taken to ensure your "friends" interest and obligation to your persona. This is usually done by creating a captivating and interesting profile, based on your niche market. If you don't complete a profile, most users will notice something is wrong - and will take you off their friends list. It is best if you include personal details, a few photographs and update your blog at least twice a week. Also, changing the look of your page also adds a personal touch and adds to that growing list of friends. The friend-requesting process is most successful if all these details are taken care of in the beginning. Another technique is to stay in touch with your friends and leave comments on their MySpace page. This ensures that people visit your profile regularly, and are subject to whatever marketing techniques you are employing.

Once your friends list is ready, and you are a popular member of the family, it is time for the wheels to start moving. Enter- your marketing plan!

One of the greatest advertising tools at your service is the bulletins option. Bulletins can be likened to forum posts, but they can't be replied to and are only visible to users on your friends list. These are especially useful if you have a targeted list of friends. But beware that if you post too many advertising bulletins, most people will drive you to the edges of the MySpace circle and you will be subject to your friends' annoyance. Thus, it is best that you post them in rarity, with no more than four bulletins per month. Do remember that since you have access to graphics and flash in your bulletins, try to make them original, interesting and an able vehicle that delivers your product with expertise.

Another great method that is employed is mass messaging. This works well for both target and bulk marketers, since it allows a huge number of users to receive your message. Although, it is easier for those targeting a niche market, since they won't have to send out as many messages, and the messages will be relevant and interesting for the recipients. This can be done by using an automated messaging program. It is important to write an informative message but ensure that it sounds personal and include the link to your site at the bottom of the message. If users appreciate your message and find it useful, they will probably pass it on to their friends - and thus the never-ending, profit making chain of viral marketing will commence.

Today, MySpace is used by both big and small businesses and individuals in promoting their products and increasing traffic to their websites. The system is truly the newest and relatively most successful face in the world of online marketing.

Meeting People on MySpace

Tags:
@ 05:04 AM (17 months, 20 days ago)

The process of meeting people on MySpace is extremely easy. MySpace is an online community which encourages individuals from all over the world to become involved and create an online profile. Members are able to create a MySpace website which they can use to provide others with information about them. Members are also encouraged to view the websites belonging to other members to learn more about other members of the community.

Those who participate in MySpace can provide as much or as little personal information as they wish and are not required to give any specific information when they design their website. Those who are willing to open up more, however, are likely to be more interesting to other members and may accumulate friends very quickly on MySpace.

Searching for Friends on MySpace

The search feature can help new MySpace members to find friends in the community. The search feature allows users to enter in a particular word and provides search results which include MySpace members websites which use this word. This is an interesting way to meet potential friends on MySpace because you can enter keywords which are associated to a favorite hobby, band, book or other interest to find others who share this interest.

Those on MySpace can use the search feature to find new friends but can also use the search feature to meet find friends with whom you have lost touch over the years. Members can also search through MySpace for users with a particular name although this not always effective because users are not required to post their full name on their MySpace website. However, there are many who do include their full name so trying this search feature is worthwhile if you are looking to locate someone from your past on MySpace.

Using Caution on MySpace

With any online community, caution should be used when cultivating friendships on MySpace. The vast majority of those who use MySpace are simply looking to either make new friends or find long last friends but there are a small percentage of users who may have malicious intents. MySpace created their terms of services and makes an honest attempt to enforce these terms but this can be a difficult task on the Internet

It is important to remember that the Internet allows a certain degree of anonymity that can allow some unscrupulous individuals to mask their true identity and convince other MySpace members they are someone who they are really not. Common scenarios which may occur on the Internet include individuals obtaining enough information to steal the identity of another or individuals obtaining information such as an address which enables them to do physical harm to another member of MySpace. Those who use MySpace should be careful to ensure their private information is kept private while they are online. Information which can be used to harm them may include any combination of the following:

Full name Place of birth Names of children and information on when and where they were born High school and year of graduation Social security number Credit card numbers Bank account numbers

Some of the information above may seem harmless but it is important to remember devious criminals can use public resources such as newspapers and library books to find out more information about an individual.

When you are Being Harassed on MySpace

Harassment is a serious issue which the MySpace administrators take very seriously. However, the most effective method they recommend for getting those harassing you to stop is to ignore them. According to the FAQ page on MySpace 99.9% of harassment situations diffuse if harassing emails are completely ignored. You can also block users which prevents them from contacting you through MySpace and remove them from your friends list which will prevent them from adding comments. If another user has created a profile about you with malicious intent you can contact MySpace customer service and provide them with a link to the profile and they will investigate the profile and delete it if warranted.

Myspace Magazine - How To Get Large Numbers Of Myspace Friends...

Tags:
@ 11:43 AM (17 months, 22 days ago)

Those who love Myspace want to share information, photos, items of interest, personal preferences, little moments and big events in their life, and even perhaps to their best friends their inner most secrets. After all relationship building requires open communications between at least two parties.

Many folks on Myspace are happy to build a modest list of friends of say 20 to 50 people who share their interests. In fact this would be the norm.

There are others who want to have a large number of friends fairly quickly. Those are generally Internet marketers or band members who are trying their best to benefit from the Myspace membership base of over 121,000,000 members. Over 220,000 people join Myspace every DAY. That's a lot of folks all at one hot Internet location to potentially invite to check out your deal.

A large number of opp in contacts, your Myspace friends, can be used to carefully promote affiliate programs, music events, your birthday, your personal website, or just about anything else.

There is software available at reasonable cost that will largely automate what for most folks is a tedious process and almost automaticially establish friendly relationships with large numbers of people.

If you think that your time is valuable or you just don't enjoy completing repetitious tasks you may want to try out robot software of some sort. No doubt you will expand your contact friends list much faster than by searching for friends manually. Badder Adder is an example of a robot software that many think is the best on the market. Badder Adder will automate many of the tasks of finding new friends on Myspace for you.

The Badder Adder home page has this message "Discover How YOU -Or Anyone – Can Quickly & Easily Add THOUSANDS Of Friends To Your MySpace Account, Send Messages, And Post Comments, Bulletins & Event Invitations – And Do All These On Pure Autopilot!".

The message is true. But why would anyone want to have thousands of new friends? Isn't that a lot of folks to keep up with?

Well of course it is, that's one reason the robot is so valuable to someone who wants to have a large contact list. The Badder Adder robot largely automates the contact relationship process as well. If you are using the Internets largest social networking and relationship building site on the planet to build and promote your business the Badder Adder software will build a huge list for you.

For a small one tine investment you will be able to build up an impressive lists of contacts ( new friends ) and gently direct them to whatever it is that you are marketing. This is a relatively new way to market on the Internet and those who perfect it stand to make many thousands of dollars. Maybe with a little luck it will even be thousands of dollars daily.

The sky really is the limit when you have over 220,000 new sign ups coming to Myspace every day. Those enterprising folks who figure out how to direct even a small percentage of the traffic coming to Myspace will do very well for themselves. It is a new way to market and you can easily take steps now to be a part of it.

Like many kinds of marketing on and off the net a certain amount of deception is involved so the use of list building software is not for everyone. It is also wise to use some common sense in the use of any automatic list building program or the Myspace police may shut you down. As with most activities in life those who get too greedy will likely eventually get burned.

The loss of a contact list of thousands and thousands of targeted folks would be a nasty experience for anyone who has something to promote on the Internet.
